You’ve probably heard of bring your children to work day, but why let the kids have all the fun? Recently, Datto hosted our first-ever bring your parents to work day!
The original idea credited to Datto CXO, Emily Glass, the day was a great opportunity for the Datto family to come together and show off our Norwalk headquarters and what exactly makes coming to work at Datto so enjoyable.
Hannah Schack, Engagement Coordinator, took Emily’s idea and made it a reality for over 200 attendees. The evening consisted of appetizers and drinks, swag giveaways, office tours, a mock town hall hosted by Datto CEO, Austin McChord, and a special disaster demo by Ian McChord, VP of Product.
According to Hannah, it was great to have the various departments across the company involved and excited to participate. “We had members of the sales team hosting office tours featuring pit stops with the executive team members. Operations and admin team members assisted throughout the event to make every step seamless.
While it was nice to see everyone pitch in, Hannah’s highlight of the day was interacting with the guests. “It was great to see the excitement on the parents’ faces and their reactions. It was a nice opportunity to see the company in action and have employees show off the Datto culture to their parents. It ties well into one of Datto’s core values: “do your life’s work”, and we want our employees to be proud and have the chance to show that to their families,” she said.
Hannah is looking forward to bringing the event to the rest of the Datto offices around the globe and already has a few tricks up her sleeve to top the recent event.
